Exploring Denmark: Svendborg

As the weather on the weekend was supposed to be sunny, which hardly is the case here in Denmark, Flora and I wanted to use the time to explore the region a bit. Thus, together we went to Svendborg – a small port town in the south of Funen.

Saturday morning, we took the train from Odense to Svendborg and got there after around 45 minutes. The train ticket from Odense to Svendborg is 78 kr (one way) and trains depart from central train station nearly every hour. As we also took our bikes with us, we had to get an extra ticket for 13 kr. So as soon as we got to Svendborg, we biked to the beautiful harbor and stopped there first.

After a while strolling around there, we headed to the city center for coffee and a cinnamon bun. Afterward, we decided to bike across the Svendborgsund bridge to the small island called Tåsinge. And it was worth it, as from there you have a stunning view over Svendborg, Tåsinge, and the sea.

When we got back to the train station in Svendborg, we, unfortunately, missed the train. So we went to the harbor again and spent the time waiting there instead before heading back to Odense. All in all, it was a great day trip in an even greater company, the weather was perfect, and Svendborg is also definitely worth a visit.
