Hola Barcelona, I’m back again

When I left Barcelona in October 2016 after my internship, I never thought it would take me 1,5 years to come back again, but it turned out it did. However, I finally made it back to the place, which was my home for a few months. And although I didn’t always have the best time back then, it felt great to be back and to spend the next five days in sunny Barcelona.

After landing in Barcelona on time, I went from the airport to Plaza Catalunya and met Ania there. On our first evening, we walked down to Barceloneta and had a drink at the W Hotel before meeting up with Ania’s sister and her sister’s boyfriend for dinner at FOC. And before going to bed, we ended the day with a late-night stroll down by the beach.

The following day, we first had brunch at Brunch & Cake by the sea before heading to the W Hotel to chill there for a while next to the pool and doing a little sightseeing tour through the city. In the evening, we had dinner at El Nacional with some delicious typical Spanish tapas and ended the day with watching the Champions League Final at a bar.

Sunday was already the last day I got to spend with Ania, so we went for brunch again – this time at Flax & Kale, which used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived in Barcelona – and met Sabrina and a friend of her there. Since we’ve only booked the Airbnb for the weekend, I also had to switch accommodation and stayed at the St. Christopher’s Inn Hostel for a night. After saying goodbye to Ania, I took a nap at the hostel and went for a stroll around the city later on, on which I then also met up with Andrea for a coffee as I hadn’t seen her since leaving Barcelona in October 2016. In the evening, I then met Sabrina again at the beach, where we had some wine and chatted for a while before I went back to the hostel.

On my last full day in Barcelona, I got up quite early, had breakfast at the hostel, and then went directly to Sabrina’s apartment in Barceloneta, where I stayed for the last night. After resting there for a while, I went shopping at Passeig de Gracia and strolled around the city. Because although I already spent enough time in Barcelona and thus didn’t need to do all the sightseeing stuff again, it was nice to walk across and enjoy the city. However, since the last few days were quite intensive, I wasn’t gone for that long and spent the rest of the day just relaxing at Sabrina’s apartment. When she got back home from work, another of her friends came over, and we spent the last night watching a movie together. On Tuesday I got up quite early as I had to catch the bus to the airport at Plaza Catalunya. After passing security and waiting at the gate, I got on a 3 hours flight and made it back to Denmark again. Back there, I was now only looking forward to spending my last month here and not leaving the country anymore.
