It’s been a while since I posted a recipe on the blog but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been cooking and baking in the meantime. On the contrary, especially during quarantine, I baked a lot of sweet treats, made sourdough bread for the first time, and tried new recipes.
And although I love cake, especially for a coffee break in the afternoon while working from home, I also like healthy sweet treats. Thus, the other day, I tried vegan bliss balls without any added sugar and in three different flavors. So, you can choose your favorite one but it’s actually worth trying all of them.
The ingredients you need
For the base you need a cup of soft dates, a cup of soft figs, and a cup of any nuts, e.g. almonds or walnuts. And then spice them up with the following additional ingredients.
For the salted peanut butter balls add :
- half a teaspoon of salt,
- two teaspoons of peanut butter
For the chia & chocolate ballds add:
- three teaspoons of chia seeds
- two teaspoons of chocolate powder.
How to prepare them
Soak the dates in hot water for 15 minutes to make them softer. Add dates, figs, and nuts to a food processor and mix until you get a sticky dough.
To prepare two different flavors, divide the dough into two halves, add the additional ingredients to each part of the base dough and mix again.
Put some oil (e.g., coconut oil) on your hands, roll the dough into bite-sized balls and decorate them with different toppings, e.g. grounded nuts for salted peanut butter balls and chia seeds for the chia & chocolate ones
Store them in the fridge in an airtight container and enjoy them – bite by bite.
